About Me
Hi, my name is Simon. I am a web developer specializing in front-end technologies. Skilled in designing and building websites with both webstandards and Flash/ActionScript.
In addition to building websites, I enjoy doing all kinds of graphical work, but consider that merely a hobby. Recently, I gained interest in writing and started this blog. Some of my writing has also been published in T3N, a German magazine on web technology.
Short Curriculum Vitæ
Born in '82 I grew up in Kehl, a smallish city in southern Germany, where I received the usual German school education. After finishing school I started my career at the IT-department of telco Deutsche Telekom. I underwent on-the-job training and worked on various fields, mostly in administration and technical service. My training was followed by a position at Deutsche Telekom affiliate T-Systems.
Working for three years in IT I decided to go back to school. In 2004 I enrolled at HdM Stuttgart, from where I recently graduated with a bachelors degree in "Audiovisuelle Medien" (which could be translated with audio-visual media or electronic media).
In 2006, I spend six months as an intern at London based interactive agency publicreative, working in front-end development. After the end of the internship I continued working for publicreative on a freelance basis, as well as taking jobs from other clients, while finishing my studies. Currently, I am employed full-time at Syzygy Deutschland, where I am designing and building interfaces for web applications.
About this Website
This website is powered by Wordpress, cforms, MooTools and a modified Version of slimbox.js. Crafted with webstandards, semantics and accessibility in mind. Fonts are embedded using sIFR. The typeface used in headlines is Podium by Adam Hayes. Some icons used are courtesy of Mark James.
My Writing
As you might have discovered by now, I'm not a native English speaker. My main reason for blogging in English is to put my language skills to the test. Of course, by doing so I also hope to reach a broader public. Although most of this website's content is in English, I sometimes do blog in German – especially when I think the topic is of particular interest to the German audience (or when I'm too lazy to write in English).
